Starter and Engine in single and double precision, SMP and OpenMPI builds, plus the anim_to_vtk and th_to_csv converters. The _ompi Engine requires OpenMPI 4.1.2; the SMP Engine runs standalone.

  • Linux arm64

    Not yet available

No arm64 build of the hm_reader input library exists in any recovered extlib package, so this target cannot be built today. Unblocking it depends on the open reader effort.

  • Windows x86-64

    Not yet available

Needs Windows CI runners, the Intel oneAPI toolchain, and replacements for the Altair-internal build dependencies the old pipeline relied on.

Release notes for latest-20261005

This automatic release is built from commit b299909727d611d5944e3cde1b1d55bd512b50e5, authored by @brianclemens. GitHub Actions workflow run that built this release

Commit message:

Upgrade the Linux hm_reader to the v70 build (extlib v82-hybrid-r2) (#11)

A community member archived the original upstream extlib v70 package,
recovered through the release-file callout and verified against the
independently recovered win64 reader of the same build
(20260710_d899773e): the contained hm_reader_win64.dll is
byte-identical, and the Linux reader carries the matching
HM_READER_VERS build ID. The pristine package is archived at
OpenCourant/extlib release upstream-v70; the new v82-hybrid-r2 package
combines it with the v82 common libraries.

Both readers now export cpp_is_part_with_elements, so
HM_READER_LEGACY_PART_API defaults to OFF and the starter uses the
native part API. Still unavailable before extlib v76:
cpp_get_include_file_by_index, so the legacy include listing stays ON.
/ALE/STRUCTURED_MESH remains rejected: the v70 readers export
cpp_sale_mesh_create, but a Windows trial with this build produced
invalid node coordinates and no QA reference exists to validate the
generated meshes.

Validated in the CI image: starter dp and engine dp SMP/OpenMPI build
with the native part API; full MiniQA passes 81/81; H3D output test
writes 6 frames.

Linux x86_64 package

Unzip OpenCourant_linux64.zip and set:

export OPENCOURANT_PATH=/path/to/OpenCourant
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/hm_reader/linux64:$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/h3d/lib/linux64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export RAD_CFG_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/hm_cfg_files

Executables are in exec/ (Starter and Engine in single and double precision, SMP and OpenMPI, plus anim_to_vtk and th_to_csv converters).

Notes

  • The _ompi Engine requires OpenMPI 4.1.2 installed in /opt/openmpi (see INSTALL.md); the SMP Engine runs standalone
  • /ALE/STRUCTURED_MESH is not supported by the current (v67 compatibility) input reader and is rejected explicitly
  • Windows and Linux arm64 packages are not available yet

Verifying your download

Every package is published with a SHA-256 digest recorded by GitHub at upload time. Compare it against the archive you downloaded:

sha256sum OpenCourant_linux64.zip

Getting started

Unpack the archive and point the solver at its own runtime files:

export OPENCOURANT_PATH=/path/to/OpenCourant
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/hm_reader/linux64:$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/h3d/lib/linux64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export RAD_CFG_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/hm_cfg_files

The Starter and Engine executables live in exec/, alongside the anim_to_vtk and th_to_csv converters. Full instructions, including the OpenMPI requirement for the _ompi Engine, are in INSTALL.md.

Building from source

The solver builds on Linux with GCC and GFortran. Clone the repository and follow HOWTO.md, which covers the prerequisites, the OpenMPI setup, and build_linux.sh. Building from source is currently the only route to platforms that have no published package yet.

Something missing?

If a package you relied on under OpenRadioss is not here, say so — it helps us prioritise. Open an issue on GitHub, or find us in the chat.

Previous releases

The delivery pipeline keeps the three most recent builds and prunes older tags. If you need a specific historical build, pin the commit and build from source.
