Commit message:
CI: integrate linuxa64 into post-merge CI and the delivery pipeline (#26)
With the v70 ARM reader (extlib v82-hybrid-r4), linuxa64 passes the full
MiniQA suite (81/81, ARM CI run 37390617479), so ARM graduates from the
dispatch-only spike:
- PR Merge CI MAIN: build_linuxa64 (6 variants, ubuntu-24.04-arm,
ghcr.io/opencourant/linuxa64-bld-qa) + qa_linuxa64
- Delivery stable CI: build_linuxa64 + build_tools_linuxa64 (native ARM
converters + aarch64 GCC runtime libs) + qa_release_linuxa64 gate +
package_linuxa64 (OpenCourant_linuxa64.zip) + selftest_linuxa64 (bare
Rocky Linux 8.10 arm64 container, packaged libraries only); the
release gains the linuxa64 asset and arm64 quick-start notes
Linux x86_64 package
Unzip OpenCourant_linux64.zip and set:
export OPENCOURANT_PATH=/path/to/OpenCourant
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/hm_reader/linux64:$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/h3d/lib/linux64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export RAD_CFG_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/hm_cfg_files
Executables are in exec/ (Starter and Engine in single and double precision, SMP and OpenMPI, plus anim_to_vtk and th_to_csv converters).
Windows x86_64 package
Unzip OpenCourant_win64.zip and set (cmd.exe):
set OPENCOURANT_PATH=C:\path\to\OpenCourant
set PATH=%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\extlib\hm_reader\win64;%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\extlib\h3d\lib\win64;%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\extlib\intelOneAPI_runtime\win64;%PATH%
set RAD_CFG_PATH=%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\hm_cfg_files
set KMP_STACKSIZE=400m
The required Intel runtime libraries, including the Intel MPI runtime, are shipped in extlib/intelOneAPI_runtime/win64 (Intel Simplified Software License, see the bundled license directory). Single-node MPI runs need no setup:
mpiexec -localonly -np 4 %OPENCOURANT_PATH%\exec\engine_win64_impi.exe -i MODEL_0001.rad
For the classic service-based launcher run hydra_service.exe -install once as administrator and use mpiexec -delegate; multi-node clusters should install the full Intel MPI runtime.
Containers
Multi-arch (x86-64 + arm64) images, OpenMPI included:
docker.io/opencourant/opencourant:latest-20261006
ghcr.io/opencourant/opencourant:latest-20261006
Apptainer users can download OpenCourant_linux64.sif / OpenCourant_linuxa64.sif below, or pull the image directly:
apptainer pull opencourant.sif docker://ghcr.io/opencourant/opencourant:latest-20261006
Linux arm64 package
Unzip OpenCourant_linuxa64.zip and set:
export OPENCOURANT_PATH=/path/to/OpenCourant
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/hm_reader/linuxa64:$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/h3d/lib/linuxa64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export RAD_CFG_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/hm_cfg_files
Notes
- The Linux
_ompiEngines require OpenMPI 4.1.2 installed in/opt/openmpi(see INSTALL.md); the SMP Engines run standalone /ALE/STRUCTURED_MESHis not supported by the recovered input readers and is rejected explicitly

Linux x86-64
OpenCourant_linux64.zipStarter and Engine in single and double precision, SMP and OpenMPI builds, plus the anim_to_vtk and th_to_csv converters and the launcher GUI. The _ompi Engines require OpenMPI 4.1.2; the SMP Engines run standalone.
Linux arm64
OpenCourant_linuxa64.zipStarter and Engine in single and double precision, SMP and OpenMPI builds, plus the anim_to_vtk and th_to_csv converters and the launcher GUI. The _ompi Engines require OpenMPI 4.1.2; the SMP Engines run standalone.
Windows x86-64
OpenCourant_win64.zipStarter and Engine in single and double precision, SMP and Intel MPI builds, plus the converters and the launcher GUI. The Intel MPI runtime is bundled, so single-node mpiexec runs need no extra setup. Set KMP_STACKSIZE=400m before running.
Containers
If you’d rather not manage paths and runtimes at all, pull the solver as a container. Images are multi-arch (x86-64 and arm64 in one tag), include the OpenMPI runtime, and are built from the exact packages above — they publish only after the same regression suite passes. Both registries carry identical images:
docker.io/opencourant/opencourant
ghcr.io/opencourant/opencourant
Use latest for the newest stable build, or pin a release with its dated tag,
for example latest-20261006.
Docker or Podman
Run from the directory that contains your input files:
docker run --rm -v $PWD:/work -e OMP_NUM_THREADS=4 \
opencourant/opencourant starter -i MODEL_0000.rad -np 1
docker run --rm -v $PWD:/work -e OMP_NUM_THREADS=4 \
opencourant/opencourant engine -i MODEL_0001.rad
MPI runs work out of the box:
docker run --rm -v $PWD:/work -e OMP_NUM_THREADS=2 \
opencourant/opencourant mpiexec -np 4 engine_ompi -i MODEL_0001.rad
The executables are on PATH under convenience names: starter, engine,
engine_ompi (plus _sp single-precision variants), together with the
converters.
Apptainer
On HPC systems, pull the same image as a SIF:
apptainer pull opencourant.sif docker://ghcr.io/opencourant/opencourant:latest
apptainer exec opencourant.sif starter -i MODEL_0000.rad -np 4
apptainer exec opencourant.sif mpiexec -np 4 engine_ompi -i MODEL_0001.rad
Or download a prebuilt SIF directly, built and tested by the same pipeline:
Linux x86-64
OpenCourant_linux64.sifLinux arm64
OpenCourant_linuxa64.sif
Definition files, including one that compiles from source instead, live in the
repository’s
Apptainer/
directory.
Verifying your download
Every package is published with a SHA-256 digest recorded by GitHub at upload time. Compare it against the archive you downloaded:
sha256sum OpenCourant_linux64.zip
On Windows:
certutil -hashfile OpenCourant_win64.zip SHA256
Getting started
Unpack the archive and point the solver at its own runtime files. The paths differ per platform. If you would rather not configure anything, the container image above has all of this preset already.
Linux x86-64
export OPENCOURANT_PATH=/path/to/OpenCourant
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/hm_reader/linux64:$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/h3d/lib/linux64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export RAD_CFG_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/hm_cfg_files
Linux arm64
export OPENCOURANT_PATH=/path/to/OpenCourant
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/hm_reader/linuxa64:$OPENCOURANT_PATH/extlib/h3d/lib/linuxa64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export RAD_CFG_PATH=$OPENCOURANT_PATH/hm_cfg_files
Windows x86-64
From cmd.exe:
set OPENCOURANT_PATH=C:\path\to\OpenCourant
set PATH=%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\extlib\hm_reader\win64;%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\extlib\h3d\lib\win64;%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\extlib\intelOneAPI_runtime\win64;%PATH%
set RAD_CFG_PATH=%OPENCOURANT_PATH%\hm_cfg_files
set KMP_STACKSIZE=400m
The required Intel runtime libraries ship inside the package, under
extlib/intelOneAPI_runtime/win64. That includes the Intel MPI runtime, so
single-node MPI runs need no further setup:
mpiexec -localonly -np 4 %OPENCOURANT_PATH%\exec\engine_win64_impi.exe -i MODEL_0001.rad
Afterwards
The Starter and Engine executables live in exec/, alongside the anim_to_vtk
and th_to_csv converters. Full instructions, including the OpenMPI
requirement for the _ompi Engines on Linux, are in
INSTALL.md.
Building from source
The solver builds on Linux with GCC and GFortran, and on Windows with the Intel oneAPI toolchain. Clone the repository and follow HOWTO.md, which covers the prerequisites, the OpenMPI setup, and the build scripts.
Something missing?
If a package you relied on under OpenRadioss is not here, say so. It helps us prioritise. Start a thread on the forum, open an issue on GitHub, or find us in the chat.
Previous releases
The delivery pipeline keeps the three most recent builds and prunes older tags. If you need a specific historical build, pin the commit and build from source.
